They're back...and this time the competition is fiercer than ever. For this year's Shojo Beat Music Awards, we surveyed record companies, music journalists, music experts, and music fans to find the best bands in today's Japanese music scene.
Just like last year, you'll first read about the bands and listen to their music. Then, you'll vote among the 22 nominees in five music categories, including new categories for Best Electronic Artist or Group and Best Experimental Artist. (Some musicians just can't be pinned down to a specific genre.) You'll vote for one artist per category by February 28. We'll tally up the votes and present the results in the June 2009 issue of Shojo Beat. Good luck! And may the best band win.
