Going back to school requires all the energy you've got, so we asked three hot J-Pop bands for recommendations on adrenaline-boosting tunes. The bands also shared their high school memories.

"I was a serious student, and I had to wear a uniform to school. Outside of school I dressed like a punk, in a style like the Sex Pistols: wristbands, torn clothes, and leather. My favorite class was [Japanese] literature, but I was really into punk music. I even played bass in a band called Zarigani ("Crawfish")!

"I liked sports; I played basketball and was in the karate club. My favorite class was art, because of the painting and drawing. When I wasn't in my school uniform, I dressed in a kasanegi style, very flashy like you see in the magazine Fruits. I didn't really go to Harajuku or places like that, so I would mix and match the clothes I could find in my own neighborhood to make my own style."
