Going back to school requires all the energy you've got, so we asked three hot J-Pop bands for recommendations on adrenaline-boosting tunes. The bands also shared their high school memories.
Bespa Kumamero
Bespa Kumamero's singer Azumi (left) and guitarist and programmer Monkichi (right) sound as hot as they look. This duo's industrial electronica is synth heavy and high energy. Their intense sound will pump up any party, car chase, or school bus ride. Listen to their tunes at japanfiles.com.
The Tunes
"The Goonies 'R' Good Enough," Cyndi Lauper
"Some Like It Hot," The Power Station
"I Don't Wanna Be in Love," Good Charlotte
"Smack My Bitch Up," The Prodigy
"Spoon," Cibo Matto
The Memories
"I was a serious student, and I had to wear a uniform to school. Outside of school I dressed like a punk, in a style like the Sex Pistols: wristbands, torn clothes, and leather. My favorite class was [Japanese] literature, but I was really into punk music. I even played bass in a band called Zarigani ("Crawfish")! Monkichi, guitarist and programmer of Bespa Kumamero
"I liked sports; I played basketball and was in the karate club. My favorite class was art, because of the painting and drawing. When I wasn't in my school uniform, I dressed in a kasanegi style, very flashy like you see in the magazine Fruits. I didn't really go to Harajuku or places like that, so I would mix and match the clothes I could find in my own neighborhood to make my own style." Azumi, singer of Bespa Kumamero
